Hazardous Waste Technician - Apprentice

The position, located in Minneapolis, is responsible for packaging, tracking, handling, labeling, storage, and record keeping of all wastes. The individual selected will be required to load and unload trucks, transport material on public highways, use forklifts, overhead cranes, and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and work with all levels of Xcel Energy operations.

This is a two-year apprentice position leading to a Hazardous Waste Technician Journeyman position. Once the Apprentice Program is completed, Journeymen in this position also have a four-step enhancement program. This program provides an additional opportunity to move up a pay scale by completing additional educational requirements. The starting rate of pay for this position will be $19.01 per hour leading to a Journeyman pay scale of $29.25 per hour.

Position requires a High School diploma or G.E.D and two semesters of post-high school chemistry. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, have mobility to work in restricted areas and climb ladders, and must not be allergic to chemicals, dust or solvents. Must be capable of successfully completing college level general chemistry training as part of the apprentice program. This position is subject to required random drug testing and overtime work is required.

Bay West, Inc., an environmental contractor and consulting company, seeks a Health and Safety Specialist to assure safe and healthy environments for its employees, clients, and other business stakeholders both at Bay West and at Bay West job sites around the country. The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for the development, and coordination of practices that will ensure compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations. This individual will also deliver compliance training and consulting, maintain and update corporate health and safety policies, and provide individualized project support. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in related field with four years of industrial or construction safety or related experience. Working towards obtaining a Certification as Safety Professional preferred. Periodic travel to project sites and relocation to Minnesota required.
